So You're Bored: Casel-Land Fun Center

September 22, 2015

It’s no secret that living in a small town can be fairly boring. There never seems to be any fun things to do when you find yourself with down time. After a long week of classes, studying, work, cleaning and attending to other responsibilities, all you want to do is step away for a while to have some fun. Where do you go?  It turns out that the Portales-Clovis area has quite a few attractions that can satisfy the need to take a break from the nitty gritty responsibilities that come with being a college student.

One attraction in the area is Casel-Land Fun Center. Located at 700 Fairlane Drive in Clovis, NM, it offers activities like miniature golf, batting cages, go-carts, bumper boats, and paintball. It’s not hard to miss. No matter which

highway you take to get there, you cannot overlook the netting from the batting cages that looks like the tower roof of a castle or the actual castle that is part of the mini-golf portion of Casel-Land.

Owner and operator, Kara Caselman, said that Casel-Land has been operating in Clovis since 1998. What started off as just go-carts, quickly expanded to add the batting cages, 18-hole miniature golf and paintball. The most recent addition to the fun center was the bumper boats. Casel-Land is the perfect place to take a big group of friends when there is nothing else to do.

Casel-Land’s hours of operation are seasonal, with the park being open from March through November and hours dependent on the time of year. Contact Kara Caselman for current Casel-land hours.

Prices for the park vary according to the activity that you wish to participate in. Miniature Golf prices for adults are $6.50. For the non-traditional students that have a family, kids ages 4-12 cost $5.50 and children 3 and under are free. Children 3 and under will also receive a plastic ball and putter. To sweeten the deal, Casel-Land offers groups of 10 or more people a discounted rate of $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Go-cart prices are $6.50 for a driver and $1.50 for a passenger. Bumper boat prices are $5.50 for a driver and $1.50 per each passenger since the boats can hold up to two passengers. Batting Cage prices are $1.00 for one token. Each token produces 15 pitches. There are cages setup for baseball with different speed pitches and cages set up for softball each consisting of the same speed pitch. Casel-Land offers rent time for the batting cages if you choose not to buy tokens. 15 minutes in the batting cages costs $10, 30 minutes costs $10, 45 minutes costs $15, and 1 hour costs $20.

All people interested in playing paintball must fill out a general release form before they are allowed to participate. Field prices for equipped players are different than non-equipped players. And all paintballs must be purchased from Casel-land, for safety reasons.

Casel-Land offers personal passes and 2-hour wristbands for all of the attractions, excluding paintball. The personal pass includes 1 go-cart ride, 1 bumper boat ride, 1 golf game, and 2 batting tokens. The two-hour wristbands apply to all of the attractions, but are limited to 3 go-cart rides. If these offers do not suite your plans then ask about the season passes in case you plan on returning to Casel-Land multiple times.

If you get the chance to visit Casel-Land,you may find out that you really enjoy their attractions. Keep in mind that it would also make a great location for a party. There are 4 party plans offered at Casel-Land as well as 4 rates for large parties.
