It was a tough loss for Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team as they faced West Texas A & M during Homecoming week losing 1-0. Unfortunately, an early goal in the second half was enough to put West Texas A & M ahead for the win.
In the first half alone, Eastern Ggalkeeper James Gutierrez came up with five great saves of the seven total shots against the Buffaloes. Greyhound defense allowed five shots in the second half, which led to a goal off a deflection and another save by Gutierrez.
The six unlucky shot attempts by ENMU led to their defeat as they went wide, high, and to the keeper during the entire match. Going offside four times also led to the loss for Eastern. Of the five yellow cards given in the match, three went to West Texas A & M and only two were given to Eastern.
After an 8-0 loss to St. Edwards University Sunday, September 27th and a 1-0 loss against WT A&M October 1st, the Greyhounds record stands at (3-3-2) for the Fall 2015 season.
The team is looking forward to Eastern’s next game in Wichita, Kansas against Newman University (3-4-1) on Sunday, October 4th. Our Greyhounds hope for a win to break the three game losing streak.
