October is nearly over, which means there another Lady Greyhounds Basketball season is approaching. The Lady Greyhounds will kick off their season in Lubbock on November 7, as they take on the Division I Texas Tech Lady Red Raiders.
“Were really excited as a team, to see what we can do this year, we have quite a few division I transfers, some [are] freshmen that are surprising us, and the returners are really strong,” Johna McClelland, a sophomore transfer said.
The Lady Greyhounds first home game will be graduation weekend on December 12 and will be at the Rock Gymnasium in Clovis, New Mexico, against Wayland Baptist University at 6 p.m.
The Lady Greyhounds will not have four players which they had last year, however, Coach Prock recruited 10 transfers and freshman this year.
“With 18 girls on a single team, it is not as tough as you think it would be to be united as a team,” McClelland said. “All the girls are super competitive and we are focused on team unity.”
With those 10 new players, Prock also has eight returners from last year, making the total count of the roster 18 players.
“Sarah Stinnett, Miranda Moore, Brittney Gutierrez, Jaylyn Cooper, and Jordyn Cooper are our big seniors this year, and they are doing a great job leading us so far and they are putting us on the right path,” Cassidy Doherty said.
With an overall record of 9-18 last year, the Lady Greyhounds will try to turn the tables around this upcoming season and do what they need to do in order to turn last year’s losing record into a winning record this year.
