Kappa Kappa Psi Haunted House
This year, Kappa Kappa Psi is hosting their annual haunted house with the theme of “Nightmares”.
According to Andres Labastida, Vice President of Programs in Kappa Kappa Psi, the haunted house will consist of different rooms with different nightmares.
“They are real or fake [nightmares] that we have all had at some point in our lives,” Labastida said.
Every year there is a different theme for the haunted house selected by Kappa Kappa Psi. They said they selected “Nightmares” out of a number of themes because there was so much more they can do with this topic.
“It's very vague and could get the people going through the haunted house to think what really could be inside this house,” Labastida said. “These nightmares, however, are going to be a surprise to keep the suspense of what really is going to be in the haunted house.”
Instead in the tunnel between the post office and CUB from last year’s haunted house, a new location was selected. The Kappa Kappa Psi haunted house will be held at Harding Hall, which is next to the administration building.
Harding Hall, originally a dormitory building, is currently used for storage.
“We knew Harding would be a lot bigger so we decided to do a big theme this year,” Labastida said. “We sit down and discuss multiple ideas and try to decide what could be the best one for everybody to enjoy.”
“We had a number of brothers in the chapter so we knew that it could be really doable,” Labastida said.
The first haunted house dates back to ten years ago. Kappa Kappa Psi has the support of the Greyhound Sound members, who volunteer to make it one of fraternity’s biggest fundraisers.
“I think people love coming to haunted houses because people love being scared,” Labastida said. “Haunted houses give people a reason to have a thrill.”
The dates of the haunted house are October 30 from 7 pm to12 am and October 31 from 7 pm to 2 am. Also, the entrance fees are required. For general admission, it is $5; for military with ID, it is $3.
