Upcoming Up 'Til Dawn Information

This year’s Up ‘Til Dawn event will be held on February 26 in the CUB ballroom.

Up ‘Til Dawn is ENMU's main philanthropic event, according to Eduardo Rios, Director of Up ‘Til Dawn. Students that participate in Up ‘Til Dawn collect donations from the community that will be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

On February 26, participants of Up ‘til Dawn will sacrifice one night of sleep to raise money for the children at St. Jude Hospital.

“This year’s goal is to raise $25,000 for the hospital, and right now we are half way there with $12,500,” said Rios.

Rios said that this is ENMU’s chance to come together and participate in an event that allows the school and community to help someone in need. “This is also a great opportunity to help out those in need and reassure that no family ever pays a single bill to St. Jude, because the only thing parents should worry about is their child’s health,” said Rios.

ENMU has been participating in Up ‘tIl Dawn since the Fall of 2010. “Right now, we are the only school left in New Mexico to have this event, so we [are] not only representing Portales but the entire state,” said Rios.

Team check-in and new participant registration will start at 8 p.m. Registration will end at 9:45 p.m, followed by a hot chocolate and cookies mixer where participants can enjoy various activities and a photo booth until fireworks are displayed to kick off of the event at 10 p.m., according to Rios.

“The main purpose for the Up ‘Til Dawn event is to say ‘thank you’ to all the people, businesses, and ENMU students who donated towards the event,” said Rios. “It is a big celebration for all the funds we raise as a school and community,” said Rios.

There is still time to join the cause before Up ‘til Dawn starts. The website to register is fundraising.stjude.org/enmu2016.

Rios said that they would like to have teams of six people, but people can also register as individuals. Those who register as an individual will be placed in a team before the event starts.

During the event, each team will be participating in challenges throughout the night to win various prizes, according to Rios. There will also be free food and drinks at the event.

“We encourage all ENMU students to register, donate and come to the event,” said Rios.
