Fashion Week 2016 Review

This year’s fashion week in New York City occurred February 10- 18 and featured many new trends for the year.

According to Vogue, some of the best designers of the week where Rodarte, Marc Jacobs, Hood by Air, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, and Eckhaus Latta, to name a few.

Rodarte has been listed as being the best because after ten years, their collection has evolved and this season has paid off to a collection of lacy, ruffled dresses, shaggy furs, and patchwork-leather coats. The outfits are all made with “imagination and emotion” in mind, as explained by actress Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Lady Gaga surprised the crowd when she walked the runway for Marc Jacobs show at the Park Avenue Armory.

Some trends seemed to have stayed while others are a new thing for this year, including but not limited to velvet, off the shoulder collars, extra long sleeves, “round shoulders”, fur, and clothing with logos.

One unique fashion trend to keep an eye on is the “trash bag” attire that seems to be growing in popularity.
