Lady Greyhounds Face Off Against the Lady Buffaloes
When members of the West Texas A&M athletics travel to Portales, there is one thing audiences can count on: ENMU will bring their “A” game.
The Lady Greyhounds gave the 12th ranked Buffaloes all they could handle in a 64-58 win for West Texas. The game consisted of 11 lead changes and 11 tie scores. The closely contested game was close from start to finish.
The Lady Greyhounds, celebrating Senior Night, started four seniors. The score was kept close throughout the first half, with neither team gaining an advantage of more than five points. The Lady Buffaloes took a three-point lead into the half up 29-26. The Lady Greyhounds shot an amazing 52.4 percent during the first half while keeping the Buffs to 34.5 percent shooting from the field.
The third quarter was dominated by the Lady Greyhound defense. The Lady Buffaloes were held to only 10 points. After taking a 41-39 lead off of a three pointer shot by Jasmine Hotchkins, the Lady Greyhounds were overwhelmed in the fourth quarter by the Buffalo bench players. The Lady Buffs went on an 18-5 run.
The Lady Greyhounds attempted a final effort by going on a 7-0 run of their own, however this run fell short.
The Lady Greyhounds shot the ball from behind the arc, making 42.1%. They then led the game in every offensive category except for rebounds.
The Lady Buffs and the Lady Greyhounds will play this week in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. West Texas A&M will be the number one seed. The Greyhounds will be the seventh seed and will be facing Angelo State.
