Ask Jolene…

April 20, 2016

Need an answer? Comfort? Reassurance? Encouragement? Anything at all? Don’t worry because I am here for you.

Dear Jolene, I currently find myself having issues with one of the people I work with. I’ve tried to ignore it, but it only seems to be getting worse. What do I do?

Sometimes it can get pretty tough to work with certain people. What I have always tried is the following: Try distancing yourself from that person and only interacting for work. Do not allow small talk to occur if you can help it. Talk to your supervisor about it, maybe they can help out in some way. If these do not work, try looking for another job!

Jobs can be hard and stressful. It would not be fair for you to quit your job because of just one person. Try to overcome it somehow and talk to the person if you think it might help.

Best of luck!

Hello Jolene! I have recently been feeling hostility from one of my friends. He seems angry towards me and it really makes me sad. I think I have an idea as to why he is mad, but it is a totally unfair reason. What should I do?

Have you tried talking to him about it? I never get tired of saying how important communication is in all circumstances. If you think that his reasons for being angry at you is unfair, explain why you think so. Don’t let your friendship slip through your fingers if it matters to you.

Best of luck to you!

Hi Jolene! I have been so cranky and rude lately, I have been snappy to the people that surround me and I feel bad about it. I really do not mean to take out my feelings on people, but I am going through some things right now. However, I feel like no one understands me. How do I fix this?

I understand that can be hard to deal with difficult things and this can put you in a bad mood. It is also good that you recognize that you shouldn’t take it out on people. However, do politely tell them that you are not feeling like yourself lately and ask them to let you be. You don’t have to explain your situation if you do not want to. Let them know that it is nothing personal and that you will reach out to them when you are ready. Everyone goes through rough patches, and it is okay to ask for alone time. Don’t feel bad about that, and take time to set your mind straight.

I hope everything gets better and that this helped in some way.

Well ladies and gents, I hope you enjoy what I have to say, and please continue to ask questions. Remember, I am here for your. Now to leave you, a little thought to keep in mind: Never ever settle for less than you deserve.

Your favorite girl,

Jolene
