Homecoming Pageant a Success
There were spotlights and cat walks; there was unbelievable talent, and lots of spirit from the ENMU Greyhounds. It was the 2016 Homecoming Pageant. It was held in the CUB Ballroom on Thursday, October 13.
The pageant, hosted by students Austin Edwards and Anne Harding, was an event that won’t soon be forgotten by the running contestants or by the crowd. There were many exciting moments, some of them including dancing, backflips, and painting.
The evening began with the introduction of the 2016 Homecoming Court, each one having their moment in the spotlight. This included students Aubrey McCall, Ashley Moseley, Elissa Scales, Laura Evans, Tristen Pautler, Ashlynn Idsinga, Alyssa Conway, Brayan Parra, Destiny Lentini, Thalia Pantoja, Edgar Munoz, Izaiaz Mendoza, Jared Butler, Mariah Ward, and Sai Abhishake Yadav Kotla.
Each of the contestants showed their school spirit and did their best strut down the catwalk. Followed by that were giveaways, a performance by the winning group from Songfest, and a wonderful display of talent.
In between events, the hosts brought students from the audience on stage and they participated in contests, two students even walking away with sounds bars as prizes. Towards the end of the pageant, the contests were each asked a question from one of the three judges, and the crowd was able to get a look into the lives of each individual person.
While this was a contest, and included everyone running for Homecoming, the pageant was a refreshing and entertaining event filled with undeniable school spirit. It was very obvious that the contestants each have a heart for Eastern New Mexico University, as well as every single person involved in putting on the 2016 Homecoming Pageant. They were able to get the crowd excited, keep them excited, and lift high the spirits of the ENMU Greyhounds.
