ENMU Showcases Shakespeare Classics
Greyhound students had the opportunity to see the film Titus presented outside of the Jack William’s Library. The film is an adaption from William Shakespeare’s revenge tragedy Titus Andronicus about the fall of Titus, a Roman general and the effects this event takes on the Roman Empire.
Titus Andronicus is the Roman General who is played by Anthony Hopkins. Andronicus returns from a successful war with four out of twenty-five sons present.
Additionally, Titus has captured Tamora who is played by Jessica Lange. Titus has abducted Tamora and her oldest son and has sacrificed him, therefore causing Tamora’s malice and vengeance against Titus.
Tamora begins her revenge against Titus by disguising herself as a figure of “revenge” and offers peace to Titus. He deceits Tamora and kills her two sons makes pie out of them and serves the pie to Tamora.
Titus is one of Shakespeare’s darker plays, and it was not for the faint of heart, it had many disturbing elements surrounding the tragedy.
If you are a fan of Shakespeare or just looking for a film to watch on a Friday night head to the Jack Williams Library building to get your fix of a Shakespearean film full of tragedy or comedy.
