He later earned a Master’s degree in 2014 at the Center of Cartoon Studies in Vermont. Lees draws comic characters as a pre-press designer at the Department of Public Instruction in North Carolina.

“Attending ENMU has given me the opportunity to meet diverse people all over the world,” said Lees.

He explained how the diverse community has enabled him to succeed because he can create diverse characters for his comic book art.

“Portales has an interesting population and because of my experience to meet people from different regions it has helped me to move forward and grow in my comics,” said Lees.

Lees has a passion to draw amusing cartoons, he devoted much of his life in creating comic book series.

“I love to be able to visually and verbally tell a story because it’s taking bits and pieces from my imagination to convey a message and to use it as a means for art," said Lees.

Josh Lees’ sample art work is being displayed in the Runnel’s Gallery, Golden Library, which is located in Bernalillo Hall.

“It’s an awesome experience to have my former school support me in my journey,” said Lees.

His website www.josh-lees.com also has some of his comical illustrations that include his series of Bello Fortis a larping comic and Rigel and the Star Teens. His website also includes his portfolio and blog on which he posts his daily drawings and brief stories of why he drew them.

Josh Lees is a determined and passionate artist that desires to show the world his creative imagination "one drawing at a time.”
