Stay Positive: Tips for Finals Week
Though there is no perfect way to prepare for a “stress free finals week” (if that is even possible), there are better ways to keep up with everything that needs to be done, ways that don’t require any sacrifices to one’s health and wellness.
One way to start relieving stress is to make a list of everything that needs to be done. This doesn’t have to be just assignments either. Create a schedule and include assignments, sleep times, meals, classes, and the highly important study breaks. Having a set schedule like this ensures that there is time for everything and that nothing, like sleep, slips through the cracks.
Another way to reduce stress is to make sure you set some time aside to just relax and unwind. Studying nonstop is not healthy for the brain, and there is only so much information that can be crammed before things get forgotten. One way to unwind is to simply close your books, set everything aside, and just meditate for ten or fifteen minutes. If meditation isn’t your thing, reading a book or watching an episode of your favorite show is an option as well. We’re not opposed to a little pampering time or self-indulgent snacks. Anything that gets you away from your work for a bit and lets you unwind will work.
Finals week is a stressful time for all students, but once it’s over you get the satisfaction of knowing you have yet another semester of college under your belt. Getting plenty of rest, scheduling your time, and making sure to take breaks will help ensure that you power through the stressful week and finish with good grades.
