Letter from the editor
Hello, ENMU and Portales communities!
Yes, The Chase is back and ready for another semester.
The newspaper family is new this semester, and we have some brief staff introductions on the about page.
Bear with us as we learn, grow and make some big changes. It has been a whirlwind these first couple of weeks getting our footing in this new world.
Those of us designing the paper are new to design/layout, and many of our staff are new to journalism as a whole, but we are only hoping to make this newspaper more amazing and reliable for you, the reader, every single week.
We have a great staff at The Chase this semester, and although we are small, we are mighty in our ambition and excitement to provide this service to you.
As editor of the newspaper, my promise to each and every one of you is that no matter what the area of coverage – government, events, academics, organizational – members of The Chase will conduct themselves with the utmost integrity, professionalism and quality.
As we all learn and grow through this semester, what I ask of the local community is that you bear with us through any small mishaps, because we are all learning here. But we will promise you nothing but the utmost integrity in dealing with any mishaps on our part.
With that being said, we would love to see your content too. Whether you are with an on-campus organization, an off-campus organization or student government, feel free to send us story ideas, photos, etc. We would even love to have some volunteers try their hand at journalism.
We would love to see the Portales community as a whole more involved with The Chase, and we would love to start some new categories in the paper, such as an arts page in which we publish people’s artistic endeavors, and we are looking to get our art students involved with creating some of our content.
So please, don’t hesitate to reach out with comments, ideas, courtesy photos and yes, even criticisms.
We want to hear from you!
