It was Aderi Arthur Dede who scored in the third and 66thminute to make it eight goals total for Dede this season. The Lady Hounds had an interesting game against Midwestern State at home this past weekend in a close five-set game. At the beginning and throughout the whole game, the Greyhounds were assertive with how they played as it was a jostling battle between the two teams, but it was later as the game progressed that fatigue set in and the sides were separated. With the Lady Hounds winning the first and third set, the game looked to be in Eastern’s favor as they won the first 25-18 and the third 25-20. It wasn’t until early in the fourth set where the MSU grasped the game and took full advantage. The fifth and final set was dramatic to say the least with both teams playing back and forth and in close contention to win and stay in the game with the Greyhounds scoring five points to make it a tie game at 13-all to be upset moments later with MSU getting their final two points to win the final set and the game 15-13. The Greyhounds next three games will be away.
In another MSU and ENMU matchup, women’s soccer hosted the MSU Mustangs but with a different result winning 2-0 against the Mustangs. In this game, the Hounds had a breakthrough in the last minute of the first half with a goal from midfielder Victory Nunez after a rebound from Midwestern’s defense. The second half saw both teams equally showing perseverance. It wasn’t until late once again in the 89thminute that a goal came to seal the deal for Eastern. A 22-yard shot from Julia Tucker found the bottom corner of the net with an assist from Bailey Bosley to win the game for the Lady Hounds.
