Locals give thanks

Thanksgiving is approaching, which means many families will be gathering around their tables, eating food, while sharing what their thankful for with one another.

With the day of food and thanks approaching, Chase reporters decided to ask local residents what they’re thankful for this year.

“Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I’m so thankful to be gathered with my family and catch up, because we don’t get to see each other as often as what we would like to, plus, the food is really good. You don’t get to eat like that every day,” said Javier Martinez.

“What I am thankful for is getting to cook for my family. I start a few days before, making desserts, and then the night before, cooking. There is no greater feeling seeing your family enjoy each other’s company while making jokes and eating what I made,” said Martha Campbell.

“I’m thankful for being alive. I have a good life, and I have been blessed with a great and loving husband kids and having God in my life. Every year, my family and I volunteer our time at a shelter to feed the homeless. Then, we head home and begin our dinner. The list can go on and on with what I am thankful for,” said Julie Villanueva.

“I’m thankful for my family. They support me in whatever I do. They help me with school and make sure that I am always staying on top of everything. I love going home to see them, especially with Thanksgiving coming up. I give them thanks in front of everyone,” said Ryan Alverson.

“I’m thankful for my friends and family. They are my support, and I know I can go to them with whatever I may need help with,” said Hannah Stokes.
