ENMU professor loves Portales
Professor Colt Owens can be seen working behind the camera in the communication building at Eastern New Mexico University.
Where did you grow up?
All over the Southwest. My mom moved around a lot, but my family homesteaded a piece of property at 20 (miles) north of Clovis well over 100years ago.
What made you want to become a professor?
I’m really not sure. When I was a graduate assistant, it seemed like a good fit.”
How long have you been teaching at Eastern New Mexico University?
It’s hard to say, but I think I’ve been teaching here for about five years.
When you’re not teaching, what are some hobbies you enjoy?
I have far too many hobbies to list here, but if you boil it down, I like to build things. Whether it’s building a world for a story, a computer, or a piece of software.
What’s your favorite restaurant to go to in Portales?
La Paz is good, so is El Rancho, but I like to cook, so I really don’t go out that much.
If you weren’t living in Portales right now, where would be your dream location to live?
Honestly, I really like Portales. I appreciate the town for its culture. The only thing that would make Portales better is if it were in the mountains.
