Family Weekend at Eastern New Mexico University was held Friday Oct. 11 through Saturday Oct. 12. This was a chance for families to “come experience ENMU” with their Greyhound. The week started off with the Fall Choral Concert Friday night, in Buchanan Hall located in the Music Building. This concert featured University Singers and Chamber Singers. On Friday, there was a family dinner at the Baptist Student Union as well as a Family Movie Night in the Greyhound Arena, where the school played “Fast and Furious Presents; Hobbs and Shaw.” Saturday events included: Sunrise Hatha Yoga Class in the Campus Union Building, coffee and donuts with ENMU’s President and staff in the Golden Student Success Center, Excel: Research and Creativity at ENMU faculty presentation, Greyhound Men’s Soccer vs. Texas A&M International, Family Fair, Portales Art Festival Art Walk (Art and Anthropology), Tailgating, and Greyhound Football vs. Tarleton State.
Kyla Roberts, a freshman majoring in secondary education and business at ENMU, had her mom here for family weekend. “We went to the escape room that was in the library and then we went to the football game and the choir concert on Friday.” She said that they also walked around campus and she got to show her mom around the school. “She also came and ate breakfast with my friends and me on Saturday.” Roberts said that her mom got to experience the campus and that her mom likes it here. “I showed her where some of my classes were and we drove around and I showed her everything,” Roberts said. “It was a fun first family weekend.”
Amanda McMillan, a sophomore studying criminal justice, had her parents here for family weekend. “My mom and dad came for the weekend and we were able to go to the escape room and the football game,” McMillan said. “It was a nice weekend because my parents were able to see me cheer on the sidelines for the football game.”
“Both of my parents were thankfully able to make it down for the family weekend, along with four of my younger siblings,” said Erin Serrano, a student at ENMU. “I enjoyed being able to see my family after being away for so long. We went to the soccer game, tailgating, and football game.”
