Eastern New Mexico University’s Student Government met February 25th in order to clear up everything on their agenda before spring break.
Vice President of Student Government, Hannah Stout, reported that their funding had increased by 5.7 percent. This allows Student Government to extend more of those funds to activities and services for the students.
During the meeting senators were asked to volunteer to test out Brightspot, which could potentially replace the current online student service Blackboard.
After having addressed their scheduled business, the floor was made available to senators to provide reports on their majors and departments. The purpose of this is twofold; for senators to sharpen public speaking skills, while informing other senators as to the function of various departments around campus.
The session was then closed to the public, with the Student Government taking into serious consideration the privacy certain issues demand. Forty minutes later, the session was reopened for public comments and questions.
Students interested in the function of student government, or wishing to appeal for anything they believe necessary can attend future Student Government meetings which are every other Tuesday at 6:00 PM on the bottom floor of the Student Union Building.
