The New Mexico Department of Health continues to urge residents to stay home in order to ensure contraction of COVID-19 is kept low.
At the time of writing, the state Department of Health has reported 686 positive tests for COVID-19, along with 12 deaths related to the virus. Out of the 686, 133 are considered recovered. It is important to remember that these are reported cases, and there could be individuals who carry the virus and have yet to be tested. The best means of ensuring the safety of you and your community is to self-isolate and only shop when necessary.
In the interest of eliminating the spread of the virus, the Department of Health is performing active investigations into community spread by testing those close to patients who tested positive.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can take several days to become apparent, making it difficult to fully ascertain the spread and density of exposure. If you are not experiencing symptoms but have been exposed to someone who has tested positive or live in close contact with others, call your local healthcare provider to schedule a test. The same goes for any individuals who are experiencing symptoms such as coughing, fever or shortness of breath.
