Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale”

If you have some extra time between studying and you are looking for a great show to watch on Hulu, you are in luck. The Handmaid’s Tale is definitely the right choice. This series started on April 26, 2017. Starring Elisabeth Moss, Max Minghella, Yvonne Strahovski, and Joseph Fiennes. Based in Toronto, Canada.

This series begins in our time era; men and women are going to work—children are going to school to study and learn to read. But there is only one problem because of the heavy pollution, only one baby out of five would make it to full term and then actually survive after birth.

With the downfall of reproduction hurting humanity's fate, a religious group called The Sons of Jacob decided to take over The White House to create a more biblical United States, soon to be renamed Gilead. The Sons of Jacob think that the reason God is not allowing children to be born is because of all God’s laws have been defied. So, they decided to come together and recreate a biblical land, where everyone had a role to play in pleasing God for more children.

The women lose all of their rights and depending on their status, religion, or marital status, either stay wives to serve their husbands, become Marthas to take care of the cleaning and cooking for the assigned household or handmaids who are assigned houses and are forced to have children for the Commanders. If Marthas or handmaids have children before this time, their children are taken away and given to another family.

But one handmaid sticks out; Elisabeth Moth plays this handmaid. She decides no matter what gets in her way; she will get her daughter, who was placed in another home in Canada, where other Americans have crossed over to seek refuge and live better lives.

This suspenseful series will have you hooked and wanting to watch the next episode every study break. There are three seasons aired on Hulu currently, and the 4th season is being created now and will be released in 2021.
