Pandemic Netflix Recommendation
Streaming services like Netflix have played no small part in keeping millions of Americans entertained during recent months. There are a wide variety of shows and movies released recently that have kept me entertained, but perhaps none more than these two titles. Out of nearly everything that I have watched in the last few weeks, these stand out to me as being by far the most enjoyable and interesting overall.
“Between Two Ferns: The Movie”
Zack Galifianakis stars in a movie centered around his treasured tradition of harassing every A-list celebrity that is forced to be interviewed by him. Originally a running segment on the “Funny or Die” television show, Between Two Ferns has become a full-fledged movie filled to the brim with what might be the most awkward and amazing interviews I have ever seen.
Hostile interviews are something that I love to watch in nearly any situation. To see the expression on a guest’s face as they watch the situation unravel. Zack Galifianakis’s relentless onslaught of roasts and jabs make it nearly impossible for any interview subject to keep a straight face. I have just found this movie and its accompanying outtakes to be endlessly fun and quotable.
Growing up I had seen far more references to “The Karate Kid” than I had the film itself. While I might have seen it once or twice, it was not a staple of my childhood like it was for so many others. I only had a rough idea of what the movies were about when I first gave Cobra Kai a chance. I can safely say that I have become a very fast fan of the world of Cobra Kai.
Despite being based entirely around the events of the Karate Kid movies, Cobra Kai offers an interesting take on failure and how one moves on from defeat. Several characters throughout the course of the show suffer devastating defeats, but demonstrate that a change of perspective does a lot to ease even the most stressful situations.
Netflix is constantly adding more content to its catalog, and I am very much looking forward to seeing what comes in the third season of “Cobra Kai”. I also share the dream that many “Between Two Ferns” fans have of seeing Zack Galifianakis trick celebrities into interviews on a network show of his own.
