National Unofficial Holidays are Coming Up

Astronomy Day will be taking place on Sept. 26, 2020. This holiday was created in 1973 by Doug Berger, the president of the Astronomical Association of Northern California. This day was created to help gain awareness of astronomy! Grab your telescope and gaze up at the stars and moon.

International Coffee Day will be taking place on Oct. 1, 2020. Not only does this day celebrate the most popular morning beverage, this day was also created to raise awareness about fair trade within the coffee industry. Fun fact: coffee can be a hot or cold drink made from the seeds or berries of the coffee plant.

World Smile Day will be taking place on Oct. 2, 2020. The day lands on the first Friday of every October. This unofficial holiday helps remind people to spread kindness, happiness, and cheer! So, do not forget to smile big on Oct 2, 2020!

Taco Day will be taking place on Oct. 4, 2020. This day gives the best excuse to fill up on tacos all day long! You could start with a breakfast taco filled with eggs, bacon, and sausage. Try a vegetarian taco filled with beans, rice, and jalapeno peppers for lunch. Have a beef, chicken, or pork taco for dinner, and then don't forget to finish strong with a dessert taco filled with ice cream, fruit, or cream and topped with chocolate sauce!

World Teacher Day will be taking place on Oct. 5, 2020. This special day goes out to all our teachers, especially with all the transitions made to keep this school year going because of COVID-19! Give a teacher a big thank you on this day; they deserve it!
